Musical Ambassador Training
May 3rd – 5th, 2025 – Boulder, Colorado

Come learn the skills to be a Musical Ambassador!

The Musical Ambassadors of Peace training is a trauma-aware, culturally sensitive, uplifting, movement and music-making course spanning two full-day and one half-day sessions. In these sessions participants will acquire skills in facilitating groups through the expressive arts of singing, dancing, and music-making. While one may specialize in one area, all attendees will walk away with the tools to facilitate singing, movement, and drum circles.

Together we’ll explore the healing practice of oscillating between receptive and active rest, savoring the 5 senses, and imagination. Participants will delve into the art of facilitation which fosters learning from each other, collaborative problem-solving, practicing self-regulation, and de-escalating our nervous systems. Together we discover creative and pleasurable musical ways of making grounding-in-joy contagious.

Training Objectives:

1. Learn to facilitate dancing, singing, and drum circles for healing and resilience, increased collaboration, and overall health. The training aims to provide participants with facilitation skills, knowledge, and ongoing resources including a free workbook, an online drum facilitation course at a discounted price, access to the MAP community post-training, and opportunities for supplemental refreshers.

2. Develop your facilitation plan. Participants will be provided with the opportunity to create a personalized action plan for their future facilitation sessions.

3. Explore the science behind joy-based community programs and expressive arts as a way of healing. Attendees will learn about the latest research on the benefits of such programs and will be provided links to full scientific articles and books that delve into these benefits.

4. Bring these practices into your everyday life and improve your own health and well-being. Participants learn about replenishing one’s body budget and easy methods to integrate the learned pleasurable and fulfilling practices into their daily lives.

5. Integrate these practices within your community. Participants will be equipped with the tools and knowledge to share the learned practices with their loved ones, organizations, and communities, fostering a culture of well-being and resilience.

6. Become a Certified Musical Ambassador. By completing the training, participants will achieve the first tier of the process. To join the growing community of Musical Ambassadors of Peace, participants must then fill out the Musical Ambassador Application form, submit a project proposal and successfully complete the project.
